Where Exactly to Snorkel at Elephant Beach
The best beginner zone is the western lagoon β 50 metres left of the main boat drop point. The coral starts at just 1.5m depth and the water is protected by a natural rock barrier that keeps waves minimal.
- Western Lagoon β 1.5m depth, calmest water
- Central reef β 2-3m, more fish variety
- Northern rocks β 3-5m, for confident swimmers only

Elephant Beach vs North Bay vs Jolly Buoy for Beginners
Elephant Beach wins for beginners. North Bay is deeper (3-5m minimum) and has more boat traffic. Jolly Buoy has the best coral but is capped at 500 visitors/day and requires advance booking. Elephant Beach offers the best balance β shallow coral, easy access, and no visitor cap.
