The Trek to the Beach
Reaching Kakolem by land requires riding off the NH66, taking a narrow, forested dirt track, and then descending a steep, roughly-hewn stairway down the cliff face. It is not suitable for those with mobility issues. Alternatively, you can hire a private boat from Palolem or Agonda to drop you off, which offers a stunning view of the cliffs from the water.
The Waterfall and Cove
The beach is small but incredibly dramatic. Because it sits in a deep cove, the waves can be quite strong, making swimming dangerous during anything but perfect weather. However, a small freshwater waterfall cascades down the cliffs in the monsoon and post-monsoon months, creating a natural, cool shower right on the beach.
